Your health information, protected

Bayridge Rehab is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal health information. We collect, use and disclose your information in accordance with Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

This page summarizes how we handle your information for virtual care. It's written to be readable rather than legalistic; a full privacy policy is available on request.

We collect the information we need to provide safe, effective care: your contact details, health history, information about your injury or condition, insurance or claim details for billing, and the clinical notes your clinician records during your visits.

We use this information to assess and treat you, to communicate with you, to bill your insurer (such as WSIB, an auto insurer or your extended-health plan), and to meet our professional and legal record-keeping obligations.

Your video sessions run on a healthcare-grade, encrypted platform. Access to your records is restricted to your care team and staff who need it to support your care or billing, under documented access controls.

We maintain safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of health information and have a process for identifying, containing and reporting any privacy breach in accordance with PHIPA.

To protect you, we verify your identity before each virtual session. This ensures we're providing care to the right person and keeps your information secure.

Before your first session we document your informed consent to receive care virtually and to communicate with us electronically. We'll explain the benefits and limitations of virtual care so you can make an informed choice.

You may withdraw your consent, or ask to be seen a different way, at any time. Withdrawing consent won't affect care you've already received.

Our clinicians are registered in Ontario and provide care to patients who are located in Ontario at the time of their appointment. Virtual care is held to the same College standards of practice as in-person care.

You have the right to access your health records, to ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate, and to ask questions about how your information is handled. To make a request or raise a concern, contact us and we'll respond promptly.
